My Top Floor Management Internship

Internship Introduction

I first saw my internship on Indeed as I was looking for Event Planning internship opportunities. I was planning on completing my internship in Summer of 2023, but the timing and location of this internship worked out perfectly with my Spring schedule. I worked M,W,F from 11-5pm starting January 16 and ending April 7. I was in constant communication all day via Slack with my supervisor, Mackenzie and CEO Kyle as well as communicating via GoogleMeet for meetings throughout the day. I was working alongside 2 other Interns who worked on similar tasks as I did.

Projects:

Campaign Brief and Instagram Content

One of the projects I worked on throughout my time at Top Floor was creating campaign briefs and Instagram content. I utilized Canva to complete both these projects. The campaign brief I created was for one of our clients Hay App. The brief gets sent out to the influencers working on the Hay App campaign explaining who the company is, what the campaign is, the specific deliverables that need to be posted, and the compensation for posting. It is crucial for the brief to look appealing and accurately describe the campaign information, otherwise the company will not get the content they are paying the influencers for. On top of these briefs, I created content for Top Floor's Instagram highlighting new creators who signed onto the agency or fun, interactive posts about the influencer industry,

Background about Top Floor

Top Floor Management was founded in 2017 by Kyle Reynolds. Kyle lived in Chicago when Top Floor was born, and now currently resides in Los Angeles, CA. All employees at Top Floor work remotely creating a fun online work environment. Top Floor Management promotes itself as being a social media agency that specializes in influencer marketing, consultation, growth, strategy, and partnerships. Top Floor continues to grow as Kyle is currently developing a new platform.

Event and Influencer Research

The second major project I completed that took up most of my time was conducting all kinds of research. I would research a variety of things such as events happening in specific cities, influencers with no management, brands' influencer coordinators, and creating spreadsheets of brand contacts. I specifially looked at events taking place in Miami to try to get our influencers to. I would utilize RocketReach very frequently in order to find the emails of  brands' Influencer Coordinators. After finding these emails, I would create extensive google sheets including brand names, the names of their influencer coordinators, and their contact information​. â€‹Apart from this google sheet, I would also create sheets including influencers with no management and sheets broken down into specific niches used for finding specific influencers for current brand deals.

Emailing and Hosting Meetings

The third and final main project I worked on was focused on emailing and hosting meetings with brands and influencers. I would spend at least an hour everyday emailing brands, pitching our influencers to try to secure them a paid brand deal. The initial email frequently turned into a negotiation deal where I would act as the liaison between the brand and our influencers. I would pitch the brand with our influencers rates, and would then negotiate back and forth with the brand while simultaneously communicating with the influencer and my supervisor to make sure I agree to a good rate. â€‹Apart from negotiating brand deals, I would also use the google sheets I created to email influencers with no management, pitching our agency and asking them to meet with me to discuss potential management. â€‹During these meetings I would host, I asked for their analytics, and previous brand deals they have completed, and gauge their interest in potentially joining the agency. I loved these meetings as I got the chance to meet new people and better my interview skills.

In Conclusion

This internship truly changed my perspective on the entire Influencer Marketing industry. Although I thought this internship was going to be more event focused, I am so happy with how the entire process turned out. After completing this internship, I realized that I want to pursue a career in Influencer Marketing after I graduate because I am able to work a job where all of my passions are combined such as Influencing, PR, Social Media, and Events. Each project that I worked on taught me something so beneficial and helped me strengthen my skills and experience in the Influencer Marketing field. Aside from building relationships, developing clear and frequent communication skills is a huge skill that I've discovered the importance of. I have learned that communication is the center of all successful projects and events. Without frequent and clear communication, many questions arise, making it hard to successfully plan and execute projects. With this, I've been told to never be afraid to ask questions because it shows that you care about the quality of your work and hold yourself to a high standard. I will forever be grateful for this opportunity and am excited to see what is in store for me in the Influencer Marketing world.
